Things are going...well?

Dare I say it? We've almost had a good week?  Have I jinxed us? That would be my rotten luck!

Jordan had speech on Tuesday evening, and Brett had to tag along (uh oh). Ok, rewind a bit...
Brett lost technology for the day because he yelled at his art teacher. Which means he would have nothing to keep him occupied during Jordan's session (BIG uh oh).  But- Jordan did an amazing job! He was kicking out answers left and right, didn't get upset when he gave an incorrect response (which has been a HUGE problem in the past), and tolerated Brett's presence.  Wha?!?!?!?
And...Brett sat quietly and cheered on his brother when he was doing a good job. I think my heart grew 3 sizes that day. I was ridiculously proud of them both. And when we got home, since Brett was "grounded" he decided to draw pictures. Which was the cause of the meltdown and yelling at the art teacher. Go figure...

By Wednesday night, I was going bonkers and really needed to get out of this house. Fortunately, I had plans with a couple of my favorite ladies to got thrifting. Now, if you are a germaphobe, you should probably look away.  But I think I found my new favorite hobby!  We had a great time and on Wednesdays, the Salvation Army has 4 colored tags that are half off. Shut the front door!! We had a great time, and we all walked out of there with some awesome deals. No, we don't try anything on first. You have to take it home and wash it...Really. And if it doesn't quite fit, give it to the other person you went thrifting with, or donate it back. It was $2, come on!  And for any of you on Pinterest, check this out. I created a secret board, and am filling it with my virtual closet. So, between the Salvation Army, and the clearance rack from Old Navy I've completed several 'looks'. I actually look forward to getting dressed every day. and I can't remember the last time I felt that way.  For way too long, I've been content to stay in my pajamas all day, unless I actually HAD to go out. Yes, Brett's bus driver has seen me in my pajamas. Often. I am amazed at how much better I feel about myself when I actually look presentable.  Now, not only did I get to go out and have fun, but we all got through the day with only a couple of small tantrums! That, itself is monumental!! Two days in a row is almost unheard of at our house!

Now, today was an odd one. Not so much in the area of behaviors, but circumstances.  Jordan and I were going about our daily routine, just about to start his speech drills, when Brett's teacher called me. From his cell phone. That is NEVER good news.  I won't go into all the details or mention any names, but there was, what Brett is now calling it, a rubber mallet accident. And he was on the receiving end. Fortunately he is okay, but I'm completely freaking out about it still. Just on the inside, though, as the boys seem to pick up on everything!  You know the saying "when momma's not happy, nobody's happy"? Its true, so very true.

At the end of the day, I got a call from Jordan's doctors office. Not a specialist, just his PCP. Which is odd, because he goes to the regular doctor once or twice a year. The nurse told me that they received a letter from the HIPP program, and they needed some information from me, as they didn't know the answers. If you aren't aware, HIPP is a program here that basically reimburses you for what you pay out of pocket (per month) the cost of having private health insurance for your child with a disability, rather than going straight Medical Assistance. I guess it cheaper for the state to do this, so...
the nurse wanted to know the date he was diagnosed with a mental illness. I asked, "what mental illness are you talking about?" And the NURSE replied, the autism. Seriously? If I was in front of her, I would've totally kicked her in the crotch...what an idiot. And she wasn't even nice about this, like it was beneath her to have to call and ask me. I guess I'll make her number 79846386498 on my sh*t list.

And, that leaves me with this thought...tomorrow is Friday. Ugh...
